Description
Nain rugs from the West of Iran were birthed in a city that borders the Dash-e-Kavir desert. Nain hand-knotted rugs are immediately recognizable and popular to both collectors and rug enthusiasts. Each type of Nain rug is distinguished by the knotting density. The highest density of over one million knots per square meter is considered the finest of craftsmanship and is often attributed to the Isfahan rug.

Traditional Nain rugs include a central medallion piece surrounded by floral motifs. The traditional designs often resemble rugs from the nearby town of Isfahan making the Nain more appealing to collectors. Nain rugs were often created entirely of silk, however, more modern Nain rugs are constructed of wool. This particular wool Nain focuses on intricate floral patterns and embraces the traditional rich color palette of scarlet and ivory.
